Catch to Batch Pilot:
Scientific Data Tracking in Scottish Pelagic Fisheries
Scientific Data Tracking in Scottish Pelagic Fisheries
Without transparent tracking, the industry faces challenges in proving responsible practices, which can negatively impact market trust and economic returns. Furthermore, this lack of integration represents a missed opportunity to gather relevant information that could benefit both science and business. Currently, valuable data is often captured in different systems, formats, and data architectures that are not interoperable, making it difficult to analyse and apply effectively.
To address these challenges, Catch to Batch works on improving traceability in data collected on pelagic fish from the moment they are caught through their processing in factories before distribution to secondary processors and retailers. The aim is to record the provenance of pelagic catches and products while integrating digital data streams relevant to fisheries science, quality assurance, welfare and production.
